About
Capital for an economy that doesn't exist yet
MetaMuse is a UK company building financial infrastructure for the agentic economy: the coming era in which autonomous software agents discover, negotiate, transact and settle with one another over machine-native rails.
- MissionBuild the capital market for the agentic economy.
- North starMake any verifiable economic opportunity instantly financeable.
- PrincipleIf it can be verified, it can be financed.
- DoctrineWe don't underwrite agents. We underwrite what they're trying to do.
- ThesisIn an agentic economy, capital should no longer sit idle waiting for humans to allocate it.
Why MetaMuse
The rails are being laid. The credit layer is missing.
Agent-native payment protocols are processing real volume. Stablecoin settlement is at scale. Identity and reputation registries for software actors went live on public rails this year. What none of that provides is working capital: a way for an agent that has won profitable work to pay for the inputs before the buyer's funds release.
Human commerce solved that problem centuries ago with trade finance, purchase-order finance and project finance, all built on the same insight: a transaction with a committed buyer, a known supplier and a testable delivery can be financed on its own merits. MetaMuse brings that discipline to machine commerce, with the controls encoded in the transaction rather than enforced after the fact.
Our first product is Agentic Capital Market. The series of papers that underpins it is on the Insights page.
How we work
Principles
Evidence before capital
Every advance rests on a signed, versioned package of evidence. Nothing is financed on narrative.
Control is part of the credit
Restricted disbursement and protected collection are structural, not policies applied afterwards.
Risk stays attributable
Someone bears every residual loss, and that someone is named before funding, never assumed.
Gates, not calendars
We expand when demand, controls and loss performance are demonstrated, not when a plan says so.
Private by default
Commercial data stays between the parties; the ledger carries proofs, not disclosures.
Built to outlast its cryptography
Keys rotate, proofs are re-anchored and no rail is assumed to be quantum-safe.
Founder
Dave Burrells
Dave is the founder of MetaMuse and the author of the Agentic Economy Series. He writes on the infrastructure of the agentic economy: the intersection of autonomous AI, machine-native finance and the rails being built beneath both.
Defined demand. Controlled capital. Verifiable settlement.
